Windsor Cyclists adopted the Velocipede as our logo several years ago. Windsor has always enjoyed celebrating its past and commemorating its early settlers and how they lived. Antique bicycles have often appeared in town parades and special occasions.
Our regular rides are on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, commencing at 8am [9am Jun, Jul & Aug] and meeting near the Power Boat Club House, Governor Phillip Park, Windsor. Rides are typically two to three hours duration at a leisurely pace. We have a number of standard rides in the Windsor area including Sackville and Lower Portland Ferries, Richmond, Kurrajong, Ebenezer, Pitt Town and Cattai. Rides are as far as possible tailored on the day to the particular group riding. New riders are always welcome but are advised to phone or text our President Denis [0414 314 032] or Secretary Gary [0409 300 044] to obtain details beforehand.
We are a small but enthusiastic group of people who enjoy cycling together. Many of us come from the Hawkesbury area but some come quite a distance to ride. Not surprisingly, as the Hawkesbury area is a wonderful area to ride in. Most of us are in our 40s to 60s; a few lucky ones are already retired. As well as our regular day rides from Governor Phillip Park, we also like to get away for weekends or sometimes longer. You can read all about it in our ride reports.
Cambewarra Lookout, Shoalhaven. A group of Windsor Cyclists spent the last weekend in May cycling in the Berry area. Congratulations to the intrepid venturers who made the top of this steep climb with a vertical ascent of some 500m and grades up to 20%. The lookout is 678 metres above sea level and provides spectacular views of the Shoalhaven area. For more photos, click here.
We ride mainly on sealed roads but there are quite a few very scenic gravel roads in the area worth exploring. The traffic is relatively quiet compared to the Sydney suburbs and the pace far less frenetic. The Hawkesbury area provides plenty of variety from gentle undulations to some reasonable climbs.
